When a property that fell into that criterion became available then the user would be notified.

Perhaps your user is looking for a hard to get must have product, using elertz your user can request to be notified the moment that product arrives on your site. With the elertz client widget they could be notified within 30 seconds of that house being available on your site. If they are not in front of their computer at that time they can even get an SMS message sent straight to their phone, also within 30 seconds!
